When Preparation Becomes a Way of PostponingYou may not need another course, qualification or perfect plan. Perhaps you need to give yourself permission to begin. For years, I wanted to share my courses, programs and ideas with a wider audience.I had the knowledge, experience and ideas. Yet I kept postponing. There was always something to improve, something more to learn or something that needed to be prepared. When preparation becomes protectionPreparation is valuable. But it can keep us from moving forward and protect us from uncertainty. We tell ourselves: I need to know more before I begin. I should wait until I feel more confident. What will others think. And so we wait. Not necessarily because we don't know what to do, but because taking action means becoming visible, risking judgement, accepting that things may not go perfectly. What if you already know enough to begin.Experienced professionals often underestimate the value of what they know.Years of solving problems, navigating challenges and developing expertise have given them valuable knowledge. Yet, because it feels familiar, they may struggle to recognise how useful it could be to others.Sometimes, the next step isn't learning something new, but recognising the value of the knowledge you already have. When I decided to challenge myself and start sharing my courses and programs on LinkedIn, I didn't suddenly feel completely ready. I simply realised that waiting for the perfect moment could keep me postponing something meaningful. It taught me something important:Clarity and confidence don't always come before action, they develop by taking a small step forward. What might you be postponing.Perhaps you have an idea for a project, a course, a service or something of your own. Perhaps you want to use your professional experience in a new way. You don't have to make a dramatic change. You can begin with one realistic step.Take a moment to reflect:What have you been thinking about doing for months or even years. What small action could you take this week. You already know more than you express.Your next chapter doesn't have to begin with a dramatic decision. It can begin with one honest step. What is one thing you have been postponing because you don't feel quite ready yet.Nadejda Savova
